Commissioner Reding requests new Eurobarometer Special Survey

The very scientific data collected by Smartdate Labs

If there is one thing the European Commission can always trusted on, it is without doubt the production of endless statistics in various shapes and forms and that the European citizen is blissfully unaware of.

But thanks to Commissioner Viviane Reding, this trend may come to an end, as she is asking her fellow Commissioners to add a Special survey in the Eurobarometer’s workstream for 2011. The Commission’s website itself describes such Special Surveys as “Special Eurobarometer reports are based on in-depth thematical studies carried out for various services of the European Commission or other EU Institutions and integrated in Standard Eurobarometer’s polling waves”. Previous surveys have covered issues such as International Trade or Health. But this time, Reding is following her usual stance of “you need to tell Europeans a story that matters” by asking for a Survey that will contradict recent finding by the dating site Smardate Labs. According to Smartdate Labs, women whose name end with an “A” have more sexual partners than others, and could thus be considered as either sexier or loser (or a combination of both).

As a staunch supporter of women’s rights, Commissioner Reding considers this finding as absolutely unfounded and therefore wishes a proper survey to take place in this field. The BJ was unable to get an official reaction from Redings’ cabinet but did get a very unofficial “What envy can do to someone” from a source close to the Georgieva cabinet…Kristalina, isn’t it?
