After Van Rompuy, Barroso in the spotlight

It's the little things that count

EUObserver revealed yesterday that “Van Rompuy used official EU cars to drive family to Paris” (see article here). But the BJ reporters decided to dig further and discovered even more unsettling evidence of abuses of public goods at the EU institutions. Trusted sources have revealed to our investigative team that none other than Jose Manuel Barroso, the president of the European Commission, was spotted not once but twice using the disposable tissues from his office at the Berlaymont to blow his nose during weekends! Considering that a box of Kleenex tissues (with balsam!) is sold at about 2,00 Euros a piece and contains approximately 80 tissues, and considering an average of 5 tissues per day with two days in the weekend and two occurrences of such an incident, that means a straight out waste of 0,60 Euros! Oh, and while we reveal such outrageous behaviour: Baroness Ashton has been known to slip the odd EC pen in her handbag to do her private crossword puzzles at home. No wonder Europe is facing a crisis!
