The Belgian Presidency boosts European internal market
The Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union is giving rise to a new phenomenon. The Brussels EU-bubble, renowned for its dark alleys and backdoor deals, is now housing the largest European black market – at least according to the latest rumors spreading around town., unofficially confirmed to us by sources close to the Presidency.
According to this rumor, Brussels has turned into a fast growing hub for trafficking in Belgian Presidency gadgets, ranging from a ‘hi-tech’ USB-stick to a ‘low-tech’ stapless stapler. Our sources tell us numerous EU geeks are invading the Brussels EU quarter to obtain these collectables decorated with the ‘Eutrio.be’ emblem and are willing to pay outrageous prices for them, even offering to pay with their body, as the “trio” part in the logo unleashes all kinds of fantasies.
From the policy side, experts cponsider that this trends shows that the Belgian Presidency is already delivering tangible results to boost the European internal market. However, as an unnamed expert confided to the BJ: “It’s a shame this achievement can’t be claimed publicly and won’t make it in the official Eurostat figures”. But we won’t mind, as we’ve grown fond of those innovative high tech ringed notebooks. So let the hunt begin!
Editor’s note: Though we are fond of the gadgets, we are always willing to negotiate exchanges, especially with those EU geeks willing to pay with their body. After all, reader satisfaction is our motto!
