Status Quo to do Greek benefit concert
Update at the bottom.
Legendary rockers Status Quo are planning a benefit concert in Athens this summer. Among their songs two will be particularly poignant for the audience: Down, down and a reworking of In the Army Now. The Brussels Jungle has obtained a recording and the lyrics to the new song.
In the euro now (mp3)
Spend your cash in a foreign land
And borrow more from foreign banks
You’re in the euro now
Oh, oh, you’re in the euro now
You remember what the drafters said
This will be optimal for the Club Med
You wanted in to the neighborhood
You never thought they’d screw you so good
Smiling faces helped you on the way in
Now they call it an original sin
Your credibility is torn to shreds
Markets crashing around your head
And the bailout fails to control the spread
Your reputation is completely sunk
Standard & Poor’s shout: your debt is junk!
You’ve got your orders to tighten your belt
Your cities are burning
But their hearts won’t melt
Long years of misery are all you can see
How can this be reality?
Addition on 9 July: the BJ received the clip of the song as an exclusive! We encourage our readers to be creative and post their own versions on our You Tube channel here. The best contributions will receive…well if we had anything to give, we’d give it to ourselves, I guess. Let’s just say we’ll pay them a beer and give them a symbolic token of our BJ WOW feeling (don’t expect diamonds or cruises here)
