Traders studying closely marine life to escape EU regulation?

With Germany pondering on extending the ban on short selling, and the European commission proposing that banks set up “preventive” funds, the days of showing off you are a trader have long gone.

Discretion is now the key word in the traders’ sector. And this mantra has translated into the launch of a secret study group aimed at  allowing bankers and traders to learn from the unique capacity of the velvet belly lantern shark to become invisible. This group has been set up following a study published in the Journal of Experimental Marine Biology and Ecology (and covered notably by MSNBC and Gizmodo), this shark becomes invisible by regulating the photophores underneath its body, thereby making its belly glow, matching the color of the sun’s light. As a result, prey or predators looking up from lower depths are not able to see the predator until it’s too late.

The BJ treporters approached several major financial institutions to ask for a confirmation of the existence of this study group but no one wished to comment. Guess it’s time to be extremely cautious: if the sharks become invisible, humans don’t stand a chance!
