Foursquare officially acknowledges hazardous nature of EU building

Borschette building: it definitely takes an Adventurer to go there!

It is common knowledge in EU circles that the Albert Borschette Center is not renown for its up-to-date architecture and the warm and fuzzy feeling one gets when entering the somber building.

It is actually considered so ugly that it was included in the list of buildings that should be destroyed put together through a marketing stunt by the construction (and hence destruction) company Jan Stallaert, even though it did not make it to the top hundred (which says a lot about Belgian architecture).

This reputation seems to have reached even the offices of Foursquare, the location based social network allowing people to share their location with friends by “checking in” via a smartphone application or by text message. Points are awarded for checking in at various venues or, in certain cases, badges are attributed.

Well, checking into the Albert Borschette Conference Center of the European Commission as Yves B. did, you receive a full-blown “Adventurer” badge…No wonder truly: the building irradiates the color dirty beige, pre-dates any health requirement about being exposed to natural light and is generally..well scary, is the most appropriate word.

Foursquare were not available to comment on this matter, and the European Commission confirmed their general stance of ignoring anything geeky and popular.
