World star Cesaria Evora to lead secret Chinese center?

Following a report by the Macau hub that China was going to fund a USD 17 million Technology Centre in Cape Verde, the BJ reporters went on an exotic trip to know more.

From the official statements of the Cape Verdean prime minister, José Maria Neves, it is already known that the first phase of the Technology Centre, that will be located in the capital in an area of 11,000 square metres, and will consist in the construction of the Date Centre, work on which is expected to cost USD 4 million and take 12 months.

When asked what would be done at this Centre, the official response was that “It is hoped that the facility will house advanced and applied research activities, as well as design and development projects for IT solutions applied to strategic areas,” .

But the BJ reporters were not satisfied with this answer, as accepting it would entail leaving the wonderful sandy beaches of Cape Verde after only one day on location. The Chinese want to create an army of clones of Cesaria Evora, the famous Cape Verdean singer internationally-known for her practice of “morna”, a form of Cape Verdean blues sung generally in Creole. It seems the Barefoot Diva (her nickname after the title of her first album) is greatly appreciated by the highest circles of power in China, that have decided to initiate hundreds of young Chinese talents to her singing art, under the cover of an ICT center. When asked what the mystery was all about, a spokesperson of the Chinese investors said: “Well every time we do something, everyone goes into a spin of paranoia so in this case, we thought we’d deliver to expectations by saying we were investing in an ICT Center, rather than telling what our true objective is. frankly, if people heard that we had a musical ear and were interested in Arts, it could shatter many ongoing conspiracy theories that make China feared across the globe”.
