Lobby against anti-lobby lobby launched
Following the decision yesterday by the European Commission to dismiss a complaint by the European Public Affairs Consultancies Association (EPACA) against the transparency NGO Corporate European Observatory (CEO) in which EPACA alleged CEO had breached the code of conduct for interest representatives rules notably because a freelance journalist working for CEO on occasions has according to EPACA not clearly stated its affiliation to CEO, a fact refuted by CEO, which published the email exchanges demonstrating the contrary.
The BJ reporters have heard that, faced with this dismissal, various lobby groups have met last night at a secret location in Brussels to discuss the next steps they would take. It seems the consensus reached is to launch soon a new association, the Coalition of Public Affairs, Government Relations and Trade Bodies against the Anti-Lobby Lobby, or COPAGORETRABAALL for short. When asked when the coalition would start its work, an anonymous source they were first working on creating a meaningful and powerful logo that reflected the strength of their vision.
